Caran d'Ache Luminance
Brush and Pencil Titanium White
Koh I Noor blending pencil
PanPastel background
Slice tool

No newts, no frogs, no moss covered logs
No chants, no spells, no lingering smells

Pencil and paper were all that was needed
To bring her to life, no quarter conceded

Good day ladies and gents, be not afraid
For she means no harm, despite THAT gaze

Spirited together under a Full Harvest Moon
A grid was inserted and her outline then hewn

Luminance laid down, eyes looking dandy
Then onto the skin, pencils andante

Colours were changed and folds arranged
Red hair laid down, to be Sliced and trained

Some glints were added and gleams drawn in
A gentle glow formed, right across her skin

A PanPastel background finished the picture
Spells completed, she left me all the richer

So there you have it and I hope you enjoyed this one, I had a lot of fun trying the Mi Teinte for the first time. I know they can name their paper how they please, but my brain malfunctions with the spelling and thinks Mi Tientes flows much better. I shall write to them in due course and insist it be changed

It comes in an array of colours and is not too pricey in comparison to many papers now in use... It took a while to get used to, at first it was hovering between Hideous and Oh My It's an Abomination, but after some crossed words we came to something of an understanding.

The Koh I Noor blending pencil was great and helped the expensive colour pencils go that bit further in all the dark areas.... I didn't use it on the skin though, preferring to blend with similar colours there to build the depth and richness. The Slice tool was fabulous for working on her braids, building texture and depth with precision.

The titanium white helped to give that extra gleam around the jewellery and I had to take care to build depth in that whole dark area in a plausible way with the light falling off gradually.

In many ways this is a contrasting take on a cloaked figure in a previous portrait I did.. I clearly like cloaks! But I was certainly drawn to the piercing, direct gaze and striking looks. Eye colour, cloak trim and hair were all changed to a complementary scheme for added pop and it came together just fine.

Have a good week everyone 😊
